Watford Walking Football Club

Our club was established in 2015, with the aim of creating a community of Walking Footballers in and around the Watford area. Our philosophy embraces both the playing and social benefits that walking football provides and therefore caters for people of mixed ability, from ex-footballers in their—shall we say—more formative years and those just wishing to stay fit and have fun with other like-minded people.

A Very Warm Welcome

This activity played on a non-contact basis in line with the interpretation of the Walking Football Association Rules, with whom we are aligned. At first, it takes a little getting used too, but once those natural instincts to charge around or run into open spaces are curbed, it can be really competitive, great fun and most importantly, immensely beneficial for your health and mental well-being.

For those of you that have played the beautiful game, still want to be out there competing at a pace that is much more suited to where we are at in life, then walking football ticks all the boxes. For those of you who just want to do something that gets you out the house doing something, in an environment that is supportive and beneficial to your health, then walking football ticks your boxes as well.

Should you wish to come along and join into one of our sessions, then drop us a line using the form below and we will be in touch to let you know when this can be arranged as sessions are popular and overcrowding is not permitted. However, you are most welcome to observe a session anytime you wish. Click here to view the calendar that details club nights.

Testimonials

Watford Walking Football Club was where I started my journey in walking football. After playing 11-a-side for several years and then retiring some years ago, I never thought I would be back playing the game I loved. This club is so friendly and has a vast range of player abilities - from ex-professionals to those who had never played before.

Since starting at the Club, my game has improved and I am now honoured to be captaining the IWFF England Women's 50s team. The support and help of the club has been a significant factor in getting me to where I am. I love it!

When I stopped playing regular 5/7 aside football, I never thought I’d experience the pleasure of playing football again, until I found walking football. Walking football has given me a new lease on life and has been a complete game-changer for me. It’s not just the physical benefits but also the mental and social aspects. It’s the joy of competition, friendship, and being part of a team sport again.

Watford Walking Football Club welcomed me with open arms. The whole experience has been positive. I’ve made friends and improved my fitness by playing 2-3 times per week.

It's not just a game, it's camaraderie, banter, and the joy of playing again, which has been long missed. Being part of this football community is incredibly enjoyable!

I started playing Walking Football at WWFC 5 years ago and I have loved every aspect of it.
Not only can I play the game I love again, despite having dodgy knees, I have lost weight, got fitter and made 50 plus new friends some of who I socialise with in a regular basis.

I like how the club is so inclusive with both male and female players of all ages and abilities.
As well as enjoying the club training nights I have also enjoyed representing the club in various leagues and cups.
It’s great to be part of a team again.
